This allows you the freedom to explore natural wonders and secluded spots where tours might not reach. Surprisingly, renting a car often proves to be more cost-effective (starting from 50€ per day) than booking tours. Always remember that a car provides you with flexibility and autonomy in your travels.

To travel in Mascat or around the country, you can also use the bus system which covers lots of places around the country. Taxis are available in urban areas and can be hailed or booked through mobile apps. Download the apps Otaxi or Marhaba before traveling to Oman.

Pro Tip: It’s always cheaper to get a taxi using the app instead of hailing them on the street! Also, do not use airport taxis. We paid 25€ instead of 10€ using hailing apps to get from the Airport to the city. This was clearly a rip-off but since we haven’t had a sim card and the Wifi at the airport was not working, we had no other option.
